Entitlement in the home

There are many frustrations and arguments that come from difficult teens acting entitled in the home. Parents try and try to teach respect and gain control and fail over and over again with their difficult teen. While there are many reasons and issues that lead to this dynamic there is one that remains constant. Many families fail to realize there is a difference between the attitude of the teen having a home always with family and having ownership somehow in the house. Phrases like "your room", "Your Car", can become dangerous attitudes with difficult teens. There are some teens tat it is important to be very clear about the fact that while their home is with family, the house and property in it belongs to the parents.
